Blue Moon Tonight!

Posted in ,

Okay everyone, hold onto your coattails, this is going to be (if it hasn't been already) a wild ride! Today is the second Full Moon for this month, also known as a 'Blue Moon' - but of course the Moon won't really appear blue in color.

In fact, the only time we might ever see an actual blue Moon is if there's been a recent volcanic eruption that poured significant ash into the upper atmosphere, then it is possible for the moon to take on a blue tint. That's not expected tonight.

Tonight's Full Moon is not only a Blue Moon but it also happens to be an Eclipsed Moon. Eclipses are extremely charged Full and New Moons extending the usual influence of approximately two weeks to up to six months! During an eclipse, there is usually an exuberant amount of tension in the air as the energy builds up to the eclipse itself. The days approaching an eclipse bring unexpected events or issues that can be disruptive and have long-term effects.

So let's look at this Blue Moon + eclipse. Hmmm, tension, anxiety, uncertainty all of this NOW - right between two already tense periods. It occurs right after the Christmas holiday which, for those who celebrate it, understand the stress involved with the holidays; and right before ringing in the New Year which brings its own personal baggage when looking back on the year.

Celestially speaking, the week itself begins with Venus (love, money, values) heating it up with Pluto (purging, transformation) and upsetting Saturn (obligations, reality), giving focus to the flaws within our relationships (with the self and/or others) and/or our finances.

On the day of the Full Moon (2:13 p.m. EST) and Eclipse (2:22 p.m.) at approximately 11 degrees, the Cancer-Moon seeks balance with both Venus and Pluto while in conflict with Saturn. Venus shows us what's not working in our relationships or with our finances; the Sun and Moon digest what's been illuminated. The Sun and Moon aligning with Pluto and Saturn add to the celestial pressure already lingering from early in the week.

With both Mercury and Mars in retrograde, the next few weeks bring more information that previously may not have been available to you and/or the path best taken may still be revealed. All that's required of you is patience and awareness.

Update on the Adopted Kitties

Posted in

Last month CJ and I adopted 2 kitties and well, here's the update. It's not going so well. Gary has adjusted wonderfully. He loves the kids, ventures all around the house and doesn't even mind Angus much. I can't say the same for Miss. Puss, she has not adjusted well at all.

She hides under my bed, day and night. The problem? Gary. They don't like each other and he has no fear of her. In fact, he sometimes instigates. There are times at night when CJ and I go to bed she will come out and lay by us but then Gary jumps up on the bed and she immediately goes to hide. They fight often. Even in the middle of the night, I hear her growling from under the bed because Gary is in the room. AND, somekitty is peeing on our bed, on CJ's side. 3 times since we got them this has happened. My guess is it's her, asserting her territory.

I called Gloria, the woman who was fostering her for the shelter. We talked for a while and she feels it's best I return Miss. Puss to her so she can find a more suitable home :[
CJ and I talked about setting up a litter box and putting food and water in the basement - it's a finished basement. Then she and Gary would be separated but the kids are down there a lot and she hides from them too.

She hates the dog, she's not a fan of the kids, she detests Gary and the only time I see her is at night. BUT - she is such a sweet cat - and she is beautiful!

Gloria said boy kitties are much more aloof and easy going. She told me to bring Miss. Puss back and take 'Boots' an 8 month old black and white male. I am so torn. My goal was to give 2 kitties a home, not one a home and the other stress. Miss. Puss is obviously not happy here. I think she needs to be in a home where she is the only animal.

I don't want to return her but I think that is the best bet. At least she would be going to a home and not a shelter, even if it is only a foster home.

I am so sad :[

We Had a Cool Yule!

Posted in , ,

How was your Yule? Ours was fab! My mom and grandma came over around 4 o'clock and opened some presents and gave the Witchlets some too. They only stayed about an hour. Then my dad and his g/f Marilyn came over. CJ made a beef stew - YUM!

The kids got a few pressies and actually didn't get any clothes. I will have to look online for after holiday sales on childrens clothing I suppose. The hit of the night was 'Kota My Triceratops Dinosaur' - it is really cute!

It was a nice night! I got CJ a Broncos grill cover for Yule and well, his birthday is December 29th but I couldn't wait so I gave him his birthday present early, a limited slip differential from Ford Racing - I know, I am the BEST!

Or maybe CJ is the best? He got me Snow Leopard for my MacBook and then, when I thought it couldn't get any better, I got a NEW MacBook pro! Weeeeeeee!! Oh, and a new coffee maker! yay!

On Tuesday, the day after Yule, my mom and I Spent the Day With Michaela Conlin - she plays Angela Montenegro on the tv show Bones - which airs on FOX. THAT was an AWESOME experience! Click on the link to read about it.

That evening CJ and I took the kids out to eat at the Copperhead Grille, courtesy of a gift card from my most awesome boss Catherine Seven - she rocks!

So yea, we had a VERY cool Yule!

The Winter Solstice

Posted in ,

Tomorrow is the Winter Solstice, also known as Yule. It's amazing to me that so many people want 'Christ' back in Christmas - that's fine with me but what about REALLY looking deeper - looking into WHY we celebrate during this time of year in the first place. The reasons go back to before the whole Jesus story.

Our ancestors lived in a world where everyone believed in mystery and magic. Every year, they gathered together to celebrate the seemingly miraculous return of the light after the longest night of the year and that's how Winter Solstice festivals were born. To this day, people all over the world celebrate Winter Solstice as a time of rebirth, a new beginning and a chance to marvel at the power of transition from darkness into light.

Ancient Solstice festivals were the last big feasts before the depths of winter - when food would become scarce. Many modern holiday traditions like Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Year's were borrowed from ancient Solstice celebrations. Cultures throughout the world still have winter festivals that include lights and large fires, feasting, dancing and singing, and closeness with loved ones. As they did long ago, these activities help to reinvigorate us in the cold and darkness.

Here is an interesting video explaining the solstice:

Of Tattoos and Dragons

Posted in ,

I think it's time for another tattoo, or 3! I have 2; one I really love and one, my first one, although I love the concept, I think the artwork is lacking.

My first one:

The triple Goddess with Libra symbol.
Although I LOVE the meaning, this tattoo is poorly done.

My second one:

Chaos dragon - represents CJ (his artistic name is Zyon)

I want more dragon tattoos, I really love this one by Jennifer Rose Phillip

I also love this one by her too, but CJ says the dragons look like penises, LOL

Thoughts???
